Who is in the directory
Anyone whose work concerns Sargassum can be listed. Each entry is one of five types:
Research experts: individual scientists and specialists.
Research groups: labs and teams within an institution.
Research projects: funded projects with a start and an end date.
Private actors: companies that collect, transport or transform Sargassum.
Public actors: UN bodies, national authorities and public funders.
How an entry gets listed
- You fill in the form. It asks for different details depending on the type, and places the address on the map.
- The Hub team reviews it, usually within a few working days. We may write to you if something is unclear.
- It appears on the map. We email you the public link to share.
Nothing appears on the map before a moderator has approved it.
Ongoing and past
The status filter only applies to research projects and research groups. Experts, companies and public bodies are always shown.
A project is ongoing between its start and end dates, and becomes past automatically afterwards. Research groups are marked ongoing or past by the people who listed them.
Where the pins come from
Each entry gives an address. In the form you pick it from the suggestions, and the pin goes there; you can move the pin if the position is not exact. Moderators check the position before publishing. Addresses are looked up with OpenStreetMap data.
When several entries are close together, the map groups them in a numbered circle. Click it to zoom in.
Your data
Everything in an entry is public, except the name and email of the person who submitted it. We only use those to contact you about the entry.
The directory is part of the Sargassum Information Hub, and the Hub’s privacy policy applies.
Corrections and removal
Every profile has a “Request an update” link. Tell us what should change, or ask us to remove the entry, and the Hub team replies by email.
You can also reply to your confirmation email, or write to info@sargassumhub.org.
Listing terms
When you submit an entry, you confirm that:
- the information is accurate, and you may share it on behalf of the person or organisation listed;
- the point of contact, if there is one, agreed to be shown.
The Hub team checks every entry before publishing it. It may ask you for details, correct an entry, decline it or remove it.
